The BBC Get Inspired Unsung Hero Award returns for 2017

The award, now in its 15th year, honours sports volunteers in local communities who go above and beyond to encourage people to participate in physical activity. The award will be one of the highlights of this year’s BBC Sports Personality of the Year taking place in Liverpool on Sunday 17th December.
This year there is a wider range of physical activities eligible for applications than in previous years, providing a great opportunity to showcase as many different sports and deserving individuals as possible.
We know that you help play a crucial role in encouraging your local community to get involved with sporting activities and volunteering every day and we can’t thank you enough for your tireless hard work and dedication. If you feel that there is someone who has shown unwavering commitment to promoting activity, getting others involved and deserves a special thank you, now is your opportunity to nominate them for the Unsung Hero Award.

All applications must be received by 22nd October 2017
Fifteen winners from the BBC nations and English regions will be chosen and invited to attend the Sports Personality of the Year celebrations in Liverpool. One of the fifteen will then be crowned the BBC Get Inspired Unsung Hero of the Year 2017 in front of a venue full of sporting stars and legends live on BBC One during the Sports Personality of the Year awards.
