The following sets out the key issues the chairman needs you all to address in the 2nd half of the season.

The main issues are these:

Availability
During the close season the club lost a number of players however it was hoped that there would be enough players to fulfil the 4 mens teams on a weekly basis, unfortunately this has not been the case. If we do not get more player commitment the Mens 4s will fold after Christmas as we cannot continue to field teams of only 9 or 10 players in both the 3s and 4s and limit the 1s and 2s to 12 players per game

Despite invites being issued by email on Sunday/Monday players do not reply in a timely manner which leads to captains having to chase players up and often they are still organising teams on a Thursday or Friday evening. This is not acceptable. It is unfair to increase the captain’s workload just because people can’t be bothered to be proactive or reply in a timely manner.

On the website there is the facility to input when you are not available, could all players please make use of this, so the club is aware in advance of any weeks that are going to cause a particular problem. It is also of the utmost importance that you reply as soon as possible to the match selection.

Matches and conduct on the pitch
More players are not respecting the umpires who volunteer week in week out. As a club we need to respect all umpires and officials of the club including captains and coaches. We have already lost umpires this season and others refuse to umpire certain teams because of the dissent and abuse which is directed at them.
Without these people matches will not take place and the club cannot function.

After Match Teas
It is not acceptable (unless there are extenuating circumstances) for players not to attend teas and help make tea and coffee etc, and clear away. This is disrespectful to the opposition and to the committee who have worked hard over the summer to get teas at the pitch side.

Code of Conduct
The committee all agree that it is not enough to turn up and play, there is more to being a member of a club than just playing. We have therefore decided to produce a Members Charter that members are expected as far as possible to adhere to.

David Pope Sun, 09 Jan 2022 19:32:45 +0000 http://stneotshc.clubbuzz.co.uk/news/message_from_the_club_chairman http://stneotshc.clubbuzz.co.uk/news/message_from_the_club_chairman Academy training 28 November 2021
Academy training is cancelled today (both sessions) as the pitch is frozen.

see you all next week
Helen Sargeant Sun, 28 Nov 2021 09:36:21 +0000 http://stneotshc.clubbuzz.co.uk/news/academy_training_28_november_2021 http://stneotshc.clubbuzz.co.uk/news/academy_training_28_november_2021 U18 Girls singing in the rain!
The approach road might have been flooded but that wasn't going to stop the U18 girls recording a 4-0 victory over Hertford U18 girls in the Plate competition.

The unusual circumstances of an opposition with no goalie (for the 1st half), players who only seemed to have met that morning, the wrong coloured tops and no umpire plus that torrential downpour did not seem to fluster our girls.

They turned in a really good team performance with goals from Aofie, Tash, Sadie and Olivia.

The sun came out and blue sky appeared just in time for post match photos from Tim. The hoped for hot coffees and hot chocolates were nowhere in sight, so we all departed very wet but pleased with everyone having played so well.

All pictures are loaded on the club instagram page!! Go and have a look and follow.

David Pope Sun, 31 Oct 2021 16:27:13 +0000 http://stneotshc.clubbuzz.co.uk/news/u18_girls_singing_in_the_rain http://stneotshc.clubbuzz.co.uk/news/u18_girls_singing_in_the_rain Saints October Half Term Report
The Ladies 3s are leading the way currently for the club sitting 3rd in their league, closely followed by the Ladies 4s who whilst in 6th place, have a game in hand on teams above.

The Ladies 1s and 2s are finding things more challenging sitting in 10th and 12th respectively, so both will be looking to move up their leagues next week.

For the mens’ teams, it is the Mens 3s who are proving difficult to beat, sitting 5th in their league, where they have lost only one game to the league leaders.

The Mens 2s and 4s are at 7th and 6th respectively, so have scope the improve on these positions. The Mens 1s are also finding life challenging currently 12th in their league but seeing the younger players growing in experience.

For most teams finding the back of the net has been challenging so the results haven’t always reflected the performance.

Expect lots of shooting practice from your coaches!
David Pope Sun, 24 Oct 2021 16:47:04 +0100 http://stneotshc.clubbuzz.co.uk/news/saints_october_half_term_report http://stneotshc.clubbuzz.co.uk/news/saints_october_half_term_report How to find the league tables
England Hockey have set up a new site as an interim measure whilst the live data feed between the new GMS system and the England Hockey and Area websites is finalised.

You can find results and league tables by these links:

Ladies 1s East League Division 1N

Ladies 2s East League Division 2NW

Ladies 3s East League Division 4NW

Ladies 4s East League Division 5NW

Mens 1s Eastern League Division 2NW

Mens 2s East League Division 4NW

Mens’ 3s East Men's Division 5 North West

Mens 4s East League Division 6NW

David Pope Sun, 10 Oct 2021 17:05:27 +0100 http://stneotshc.clubbuzz.co.uk/news/how_to_find_the_league_tables http://stneotshc.clubbuzz.co.uk/news/how_to_find_the_league_tables Success in the Pre Season Friendlies
It has been great to see players, both new and old, dusting off the cobwebs in preprartion for the new season.

The Mens' 2s and Mens' 3s sides took on Cambridge South last week. The M2 romped to a 5-0 victory and the M3 battled to a well deserved 0-0 draw.

For the ladies, the L1 have started well and won games against Stevenage and Cambridge City. The L4 were on the wrong side of a 2-0 defeat to Cambridge South ladies.

This weekend (4 September) has seen:

The Ladies' 3s had a cracking victory over Royston, coming from 3-1 down to win 4-3. and the Ladies' 2s beat St Ives 4-1.

The Mens' 1s have enjoyed their first runout of the season and whilst they lost 3-0 against Bedford the new system and team performed well. Finally our Men's 3s drew 1-1 away to Royston. So all told, a fantastic start before the real season begins!
David Pope Fri, 03 Sep 2021 20:48:39 +0100 http://stneotshc.clubbuzz.co.uk/news/success_in_the_pre_season_friendlies http://stneotshc.clubbuzz.co.uk/news/success_in_the_pre_season_friendlies
