Match Report | Expenses added for Ali S for travel last week Missing a couple of our regular players, the ladies 4s started the match with a different format trying an attacking approach with 4 forwards to take on Kettering who were towards the bottom of the table. We made hard work of moving the ball with too many players trying to go through players rather than simple passing hockey and although we had attempts in the attacking 'D' we were unable to find the net. Just before half time we finally had a break and Iris injected a great ball into Willow in the D who managed to slip it past the keeper. Half time St Neots were winning 1-0. Realising the format was not working and to ensure we kept the lead Ali Stubbs swapped the team around for the second half which worked better and kept Kettering from scoring but we were unable to find the goal this half resulting in a 1-0 win. Player of the match this week was harder, with a split over a number of players with votes for Iris, Alex, Bev, Julie, Bridget and Claire but just pipping the vote was Willow. |
