Match Report

This was the first friendly back for the L4s and L5s. Sigificantly down on numbers we had a mixture of L4s and L5s, with a helping hand from some of last year's L3s who had played for us before in the previous season. Numbers were further affected by poor Julie Lewis coming a cropper with a stone hitting her windscreen before she even got to the pitch, and so by the start of the match we were a bare 11.

That didn't deter a brave St Neots team who were raring to go. We battled hard throughout the first and second halves against a Cambridge South team, who had multiple substitutions and who had obviously been practising their press over the summer break. Alas, as St Neots tired in the second half, Cambridge South managed to score two goals.

However, the score line does not reflect the great amount of hard work that St Neots put into the match, and there were still smiles on faces at the end. Special mentions to all the defense, but in particular Louise Abell, who had a cracking match. Erin Hurst and Ruby Lorigan had some great play in their respective positions, and Hannah Thompson provided some solid form in her position, narrowly missing getting a goal by some good goalkeeping. And our scoresheet would definitely not have been as healthy without Tara Bell in goal, who was kept very busy but competently kept Cambridge South at bay.

A difficult match constrained by lack of players, but some good fun had all round. Bring on Bedford!!
