Match Report | Saints came up against their local rivals 1st XI for the first time in 3 years after St Ives relagation into Division 3 last season. Up against relagated opposition for the 3rd time in the first four games it was always going to be an uphill struggle, and so it proved with relentless pressure from St Ives. A double save from Ben Seaber. The deadlock was broken shortly afterwards with a drag flick which nearly broke through the roof of the net. A second goal swiftly followed, but despite constant pressure, Saints countered and Ewan Murdoch forced a great save just before the sides went in with the scoreline at 2-0.
Another short corner goal and a well taken break made it 4-0 shortly after the half time recommenced. But Saints push harder into their opponents half, winning a short corner which was converted by Bradley Forsdick for his third goal in three games
St Ives rounded off the scoring with a penalty flick which saw the final result at 5-1. A tough game, against very strong opposition, but Saints continue to develop with young players coming through as the season progresses. |
