Match Report

After our previous years all-conquering u14 teams mostly graduated upwards, this team were mostly new to this age group - though our policy of playing a few under 12s 'up' in the previous season seems to be paying off...

This tournament proved one needy of stamina as well as skills and teamwork - with successive games without a break almost to the final meaning any blip in our composure risked a sudden-death experience. Fortunately the lads and lasses were up to the task and kept running for each other to keep the 'sheets clean and the goals coming.

We fielded 2 teams. The 2s squad (Sami, Libby, Nelly, Rory, Louise, Charlotte, Daniel, Tash and Tara) finished mid table, including quite a few new players to this tournament. Rory worked incredibly hard for the team box-to-box, with Tash and Daniel creating great opportunities and Charlotte even playing up front!

The 1s squad (Elliot, Jake, Sophie, Ruby, Fee, Max, Harry and Freddie) finished overall champions. The attacking presence of Freddie (interchanging with Fee), Ruby, Max, and Harry's driving, tricky runs proved too good for most opposition. at least until Harry came across his namesake - showing surprisingly similar skills - playing for S&S. (I hope you spotted the alliteration in that last sentence, English students). Jake and/or Sophie screened the 'D' competently  while GK Elliots kicking made goals shipped a rare event (just kick a little wider pleeeese). Fortunately we never got quite to the 6-0 scoreline (in the 10 minute long games) that would've caused the coach to deliver on his promise to then field Elliot as striker!

Thanks everyone-  including parents - for all their support

Tim
