Match Report | It was with the bare 11 that we went to Ely with this week due to lots of 4s have prior commitments elsewhere. Many thanks to Jo Harley as a last minute addition to complete the team. However, despite lacking in numbers, we were strong in defence and midfield and this served us well. St Neots dominated the game throughout and it was not long before a goal was found in the first half, scored by captain Alex Colby who sneaked it past the keeper from a beautiful assist by that superstar, Jo Harley. St Neots had several chances following this and it was with a cracking strike by Jay Dickinson that St Neots ended the first half 2-0 up. More of the same was the half time talk and despite lacking in subs, St Neots entered the second half full of beans. Two more goals, one each for Jay Dickinson and Alex Colby brought the score line to 4-0 up. Throughout the game, the defence and midfield were strong supporting the forward line, with Callie Wicks providing some fantastic ball control and movement through midfield towards goal despite being overun with opposition. There was also some beautfiul footwork from goalkeeper Lizell Heather who produced a fantastic booted clearance halfway up the pitch. Sadly a hat-trick was elusive for both goalscorers. St Neots ended the game with a well deserved 4-0 win and all players deserve a big pat on the back for the energy, determination and team cameraderie that each brought to the game. |
