Womens 1 Vs Norwich Dragons 1

St Neots Ladies 1s entertained Norwich Dragons at Longsands School. The previous encounter between the two sides ended up in an extremely exciting 2–2 draw at Norwich.Saints started the game brightly with lots of possession and slick passing and were soon rewarded with the opening goal of the game from Eleanor Pybus. As the half went on Norwich grew in confidence and began to put Saints under some defensive pressure. After a number of short corners the away team was awarded a penalty flick and duly scored, levelling the game at 1–1 going into the halftime break.Saints started the second half stronger than the visitors and missed a couple of clear-cut chances to go ahead. And with some smart defending from Tanya Sargeant at centre back and Rosie Bettsworth at right back Saints looked in total control. Following a string of attacking short corners, Saints finally got the breakthrough they deserved. Eleanor’s rocket reverse strike from the top of the D left the keeper no chance. Unfortunately, this only encouraged Norwich to step up their game and back down the pitch to grab a soft equaliser. The St Neots ladies showed great character and belief and didn’t let this setback changetheir attacking style. With 12 minutes remaining, Saints won another short corner after some great attacking play from Caroline Osborne and Chloe Cundick. Just like the previous corner, this was drilled home on the reverse with a unstoppable strike from Eleanor to complete a fantastic hat-trick and 3 points for her team.
