Womens 1 Vs City of Peterborough 2

MATCH REPORT 

This week Saints L1's hosted a City of Peterborough 2's side that had started the season strongly. 

The game started at a furious pace with the Saints doing much of the pressing in their attacking half of the pitch. Plenty of opportunities to score were denied by an excellent visiting keeper. Eventually possession told with a string of penalty corners and the dependable Eleanor Pybus smashed the second home to make it 1-0, further chances were squandered and the the narrow lead was taken into the 2nd half.

The 2nd half started with Peterborough on the offensive but the young Saints held firm. 

The Saints then regained control of the game. The 2nd goal was desperately needed to kill the game but the Saints just couldn't convert from several excellent chances, including a couple of 1v1s. 

The missed chances keeping Peterborough in a game they should have been put away in. 

Then came the inevitable consequence of not killing the game, the visitors struck twice in the last 10 minutes as the Saints tired from the endeavours and intensity of what went before. Peterborough clinically taking the only 2 clear opportunities they had all afternoon. 

A lesson in finishing and game management was all the Saints ended up taking from the game, which should of been a comfortable win.
