Match Report | Today’s trip to table-topping Sudbury was always going to be difficult, and the task was made that much harder with five players missing through illness, and school and uni commitments. The early stages of the game saw both teams competing evenly. After we conceded a goal from a penalty flick, Eleanor smashed home from a short corner to level things up. Unfortunately, Sudbury scored twice before the break to give them a healthy lead they didn’t fully deserve. After the break we quickly found ourselves 4–1 down from a wickedly deflected short corner. With key players starting to feel the strain from the pace of the game and with injuries to others, we conceded yet another deflected goal. The game finished 5–1 to the home side, but I feel this score line flattered them a bit. Lots of positives came from the game and we look forward to our home fixture vs. Peterborough next weekend. POM went to T, with a solid performance in midfield. Unfortunately, our press man, Adam, was away this week, and so sorry for the lack of photos. |
