Match Report

Home tournament with St Neots U12 girls fielding two teams with some great results, especially as it was the first game at U12 level for many of the players.

Team A - Katy Lloyd, Katie Pye, Ruby Lorigan, Ruby Lane, Aoife Stokes, Bella Moretto, Eleanor Master and goalie Martha Lorigan beat Cambridge South 2-0 (with goals from Bella and Aoife), Saffron Walden 4-0 (with goals from Katy and Bella with a hat-trick) and Cambridge Nomads 2-0 (with goals from Katy and Aoife). Ruby Lane controlled the mid-field, tackling and chasing for the ball at every opportunity, well supported by Katy and Bella who looked for the spaces to run into. Aoife stalked the opposition defence, whilst at the other end defenders Katie, Eleanor and Ruby Lorigan ensured keeper Martha had little to do, although when called upon she ably kicked any shot at goal away with ease. Player of the tournament was Ruby Lane!

Team B - Georgina Bettsworth, Molly Cox, Nellie Purser, Ishita Rajesh, Elizabeth Russel, Myla Marshall and keeper Rosie Cox lost two matches 0-2 and 0-1 to March and Cambridge South and beat Cambridge Nomads 2-0. A great debut for many of the team in the U12s, pitched against older girls, including some U14s filling in gaps in the opposition. Special mention to Georgina and Myla for a goal a piece and a very special mention to keeper Rosie Cox, following in her older sister's footsteps by donning on the goalie kit for the first time ever, and making some great kicks and saves. Ishita's defensive tackles drew applause with midfielders Nellie and Elizabeth fighting for the ball on every occasion. Molly and Georgina remembered their training and looked for the spaces at the sides of the pitch making for a wide game, appreciated by the spectators. Player of the tournament was Georgie Bettsworth!
