The home team would not know what to do if they had the luxury of a substitute but this match against high-flying second in the table St Ives proved the worth of all eleven players who gave their all. Despite their lofty position and probably having the better possession and certainly greater number of first half shorts, St Ives were unable to break down the St Neots resistance. 0-0 at half time was a reflection of everyone's efforts and caused the away team to have a long half time team talk. Indeed, the second half saw Saints push their visitors more but St Ives managed to score with about 15 minutes to go from a short corner routine. The last ten minutes surprisingly saw constant pressure on the St Ives goal and a somewhat panicking defence; despite a number of successive short corners Saints were unable to score the equaliser.The three younger home players were particularly worthy of mention ie Sam Evans, Charlie Evans and Dan Tonkin; the man of the match for the home side going to Dan.
