In keeping with a developing theme, Saints again let in a very early goal to put themselves on the backfoot in this match. Indeed, nobody could say they were playing their best in the first half, apart from goalie Tim Poole. 4-0 at half time could well have been an accurate relection of play, despite having a sub for a change! In fact, the home side were unable to muster even one short corner in the whole game. That said, the second half was better and the constant efforts of Gareth Thomas were enough to earn him man of the match for the home side. Saints were able to put together a really good series of passes from the back via Paul Stubbs to Geoff Watts to Duncan Talbot to Oli Dawes in the opposition D to square to Duncan to slot home but this was not enough against a quick, young side! 1-6 was the final result.
