Match Report |
Exceptionally cold, driving rain only added to the fun of this evening game on the windswept St Ives pitch! Availability across the teams is a weekly problem but Alec Pybus must be thanked for making up the eleven at short notice. Weathering the storm, so to speak, Saint did really well for the first 20 minutes against a strong St Ives side with a particularly incisive midfield and some good youngsters, but three open-play goals in the first half saw the away side struggling to get back in to it, especially when reduced to ten when a player had to retire through illness. The second half mirrored the first to some extent, with another good 20 minutes or so but unable to score a goal. At least St Ives were only able to score once in the second half particularly because of solid performances from the backs, especially Paul Stubbs and Nigel Buckingham-Jones. Andi Brooks also had a fine game.
