Match Report |
St Neots M1 started their season with a tricky away fixture to newly promoted Wisbech M2. On a drizzly afternoon Brett Nunn settled nerves, pouncing on a free ball in the Wisbech D to slit home the first goal of the season. Wisbech pushes forward, allowing Saints to counter, and Rob Mitchell was brought down by the opposition keeper. Bradley Forsdick gave the keeper no chance with the resulting penalty to make it 2-0 at half time.
A double from Rob Mitchell, the second, brilliantly assisted by debutant Luca Moor saw Saints go into a comfortable 4-0 lead. Wisbech looked for a consolation goal late on, drawing a diving save from Captain Ben Seaber. The score remained 4-0 with Chris Butterworth named Man of the match for his work rate in the heart of the Saints midfield |
