The first half was a fairly even contest with the students looking the more dangerous side, but they couldn`t capitalise on three penalty corners, with Lisa Gibbie clearing a strong shot off the line from one of these set-pieces. Saints improved towards the interval with several fast, threatening, breaks - but it remained goal-less at half-time.

The second period was entirely different as Saints dominated from the first whistle. Within 5 minutes Katie Bates had given Saints the lead, rounding of a good Saints move from close range. Kaz Osborne then fired narrowly wide and player of the match Tanya Sargent nearly rounded off a terrific run in style, but her shot was narrowly wide of the far post. Undaunted Saints continued to retain possession well, pushing forward purposefully and they were rewarded when Kate Clark, enjoying one of her best games, applied an opportunistic close range finish to extend Saints lead. Saints weren`t finished yet and as they continued to attack in numbers Charlie Churms completed the scoring, again from close in.

So an excellent result and terrific second half performance from the squad in Saints last league game before the Xmas break. Saints will take great encouragement from the performance and aim to build on this and string together a strong run of performances and results when the league resumes in the New Year.
