Match Report | It was a cold, bright, sunny afternoon as Saints underwent a thorough warm-up to loosen limbs and prepare for their second game of the weekend. Encouraged by Saturday`s performance, and result, Saints made a really positive start to the game - moving the ball with pace and accuracy. The home `keeper saved well from Paula Bingham, but Saints couldn’t make the breakthrough. Indeed, as a goal-less first half wore on the home side gradually claimed the initiative. Saints re-asserted themselves in the second period and Paula Bingham and Georgia Grant both went close as Saints began to dominate. It was, however, beginning to look as though a fast and well contested match might remain score-less when pacey young Lotti Knights arrived at the far post to calmly convert Kelly Bingham`s cross, claiming her first 1stX1 goal and a vital 3 points for Saints. A terrific performance from the whole squad and player of the match honours were shared by the stand-out performers Kelly Bingham and Tanya Sargeant. Saints will be looking to build on a promising start to 2018 when they entertain the students of the University of East Anglia at Longsands, 1pm on Saturday. |
