Match Report | A much better performance from the day before and overall an enjoyable game to play where everyone played reasonably well and had plenty of the ball. Unfortunately, as has been happening too often, we are the victoms of our own downfall. Today, all the stats were very much in St Neots favour - possession (which must have been at 70%), chances, short corners, but all that comes to nothing if we cannot convert all this into goals. We must have had 11 or 12 chances today and scored once, whilst Cambridge had around 4 chances and scored 3. Bottom line is we are not converting our chances and are therefore not winning matches. Quite simple really. Even against St. Ives yesterday, we had enough chances in the 1st half to be ahead at half time. We decided to change our shape today, be more proactive and press higher up the pitch and so we played 5 across midfield with 2 up front. All agreed that the formation worked better and played to our strengths, but it crucially didn't positively impact our goal scoring rate! So, I think we can kiss goodbye to any thoughts about promotion and we just need to go out and continue to work hard and enjoy it.
