Another fantastic win sees the ladies 3’s clinching the league with still 3 games to go. Despite constant pressure, Saints were unable to score in the first half. A determined effort right from the start of the second half whistle was eventually rewarded as top goal scorer Kira Herbert converted a cross from new player Annabelle Guilliatt-Griggs to break the ice. This was followed up by another goal from Herbert as the whole team connected to baffle the Rickmansworth defence. This was followed up by a goal from midfielder Cerys James and then there was constant pressure from the saints attack. A brilliant goal by Herbert completed her hat trick as once again, new player Guilliatt-Griggs sentence a perfect cross for her to deflect into the top corner. A final solo run and goal from Sophie Faulkner completed a wonderful afternoon of team hockey with the new champions making the most of a tired Rickmansworth. Saints defence had little to do except mop up occasional runs from the opposition attack but spent most of the game fielding and returning the ball to the forwards. Man of the match Sophie Waugh had a great game in midfield supported by an energetic Lotti Knights. A terrific way to become league winners; we’ll done one and all.
